“Water conditions in the Eastern Nile basin are critical, because Egypt (downstream) is located in an arid area, and the Nile is the main fresh water in the country.” Abeer Abazeed is a PhD student at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs at Leiden University. Her PhD research tackles the role of civil society in hydropolitics in the Eastern Nile basin (Egypt-Sudan-Ethiopia).
