Duane L Herrmann, father, grandfather and internationally published, award-winning poet and historian, has work translated into several languages, in print and online. He has written eight full-length collections of poetry, as well as chapbooks and short stories. Through his poetry, he has received the Robert Hayden Poetry Fellowship and inclusion in American poets of the 1990s, and his poetry can be found at Map of Kansas Literature (website), the Kansas Poets Trail, the Keweenaw Art Walk and other places. His history, By thy strengthening grace, received the Ferguson Kansas History Book Award. He holds degrees in education and history. These accomplishments defy his traumatic childhood, which was marked by dyslexia, ADHD, cyclothymia, an anxiety disorder and situational mutism, and his current PTSD.
