Joy Ezeka
Joy Ezeka is a surface designer for ZURi and iMANi. ZURi and iMANi is a surface and textile design studio. We create original pattern designs for the fashion, home and paper goods market to produce timeless lifestyle and homeware collections. We also work on bespoke commissions, collaborations and licensing.
Our purpose is to establish “Made in Africa” as a seal of excellence and change the narrative of the “African print” by weaving stories rooted in the African context through our designs, promoting exclusivity and authenticity, but still retaining an awareness of current trends in design – made in Africa by Africans.

2020-05-25"Most of the African prints sold globally and in the African markets are not designed by Africans or manufactured in Africa – even though patterns and motifs are inspirations gleaned from African sources. Also, designs from Africa have often been misinterpreted, or recognised or defined as tribal art, with their creativity reduced to a certain stylistic representation and use of colours, materials and patterns."
