Dear Festival Friends,
It gives us great pleasure to invite you to the 12th edition of the European Film Festival South Africa, running from 09 to 19 October 2025. This year’s festival is a powerful cinematic journey through themes of love, identity, family, solidarity, equality, and sustainability, brought to life through ten exceptional contemporary films from across Europe.
We are thrilled to share the official trailer, now live on our website. Have a look and start planning your festival experience: #EUFF2025 Official Trailer.
We’re especially proud to unveil our brand-new website, developed by the incredible NEW NOISE team in Durban. It’s your go-to space for all things festival-related: screenings, trailers, streaming access, and more. A curated selection of films will also be available to stream online throughout Southern Africa via www.festivalscope.com.
This year the festival is proudly presented by the Encounters South African International Documentary Festival, a team with a strong Pan-African vision and belief in transformation through documentaries. Through this new partnership with the European Film Festival South Africa, we are deepening our commitment to growing new audiences, fostering community engagement, and creating spaces for critical conversations. The festival’s Outreach Programme will continue this mission, and we’ll be sharing updates along the way. We look forward to having you with us on this journey.
We are incredibly grateful to Magdalene Reddy (Festival Co-Director & Owner, Creative WorkZone) and Peter Rorvik (Festival Co-Director & Curator) for their tireless commitment and vision. Through Creative WorkZone, they’ve grown this festival into a trusted space for cultural exchange and cinematic excellence. We are honoured to continue building on this legacy.
