"Each session, workshop and concert is a testament to the incredible talent and creativity that exists within our borders. We are witnessing a renaissance of creative expression in South Africa, and it is through initiatives like this that we can continue to break down the barriers that once excluded so many."

My bankrekening was nog nooit dolleeg nie.

"Are you still catching up on the amapiano genre? If you’re looking for a genre that just about matches your heartbeat, then it might be time to discover more amapiano. While some people look to classical music for divine inspiration, muses can also be hiding in other music genres. Here’s what I learned, following the amapiano beat from KwaZulu-Natal to Queens."

"Eksie perfeksie is slim.

"Spaza shops power the economy, and they’ve finally risen to be considered by corporations and the government as an integral link in the larger supply chain."

"Dragons appear to be a somewhat later addition to South African popular fiction, a topic that was perhaps willing to emerge from the depths of imagination more often as censorship lifted and free thought flourished."

"Should you be one of those who have never been to a National Arts Festival, do please try. Should you be one of the oldies now, reminiscing about those days filled with hormones and illicit substances, please try again."

"Netflix’s Bandersnatch is a unique viewing experience, allowing its participants to choose a different outcome at every scene – rendering a different, expansive way to interact with the storyline and its characters. The idea has its roots in the Choose your own adventure novels and interactive fiction, a genre which skyrocketed in the early days of home computing."

"The bulk of the festival was held in Mark Street, a picturesque street with old nagmaalhuisies that have been bought up and restored. At the end of the street sits the Victoria Hotel, a stately venue with warm interiors to welcome travellers and conference-goers."

"A house with books will, almost always, also have fair access to at least a handful of classic board games – but what happens when books and music are switching to digital formats?"
